Ferries operated by GVB are a vital part of daily mobility across the IJ in Amsterdam. Together with GVB, Roboat is working to help future-proof these ferry operations while supporting the transition towards an electric fleet.
Roboat is deploying Insights systems across all the 60 series ferries in the fleet. Insights automatically collects operational data such as energy use and vessel status, while providing operators with a live overview of the fleet. These insights help GVB better understand how their ferries operate and support decisions around the design and operation of future electric vessels.
In addition, Roboat’s Assist system is being piloted on the ferry 61, providing situational awareness and docking support to help make daily ferry operations run smoother.

This project is supported by the European Union through an EFRO / Kansen voor West project, aiming to deploy Roboat systems across multiple vessels and fleet. Within this project we will measure impact on efficiency and safety of Roboat systems while preparing out technology for large-scale deployment in urban ferry and inland logistics operations.
